La zarzuela Cecilia Valdés, considerada obra insigne del maestro Gonzalo Roig regresa los días Octubre 11 y 12 celebrando la Semana de la Hispanidad 2025 en el Dennis C. Moss Arts Cultural Arts Center en Cutler Bay presentada por Martí Productions.

Esta presentación incorpora en el role de Cecilia Valdés a la gran soprano Cubana Americana Eglise Gutiérrez, la noche del Sábado 11 de Octubre a las 8pm y a la soprano Puertorriqueña Marinel Cruz el Domingo 12 de Octubre a las 4:30 pm mientras el personaje de Leonardo de Gamboa será asumido los dos dias por el tenor Urugüayo Martin Nusspaumer junto a consagradas figuras del género lírico y del teatro.

The Cuban zarzuela Cecilia Valdés, considered a signature work by maestro Gonzalo Roig, returns to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Week 2025.  This concert presentation will revive the musical pieces from the original, premiered in 1932 in Cuba, and includes artistic direction by Manny Albelo and musical direction by Marlene Urbay leading the Florida Chamber Orchestra.

This presentation highlights the participation of the IFÉ-ILÉ Afro Cuban Ballet Company, directed by Neri Torres, while the choral sections are performed by Voices of Miami, conducted by Greisel Domínguez.  Featuring the great Cuban-American soprano Église Gutiérrez in the role of Cecilia Valdés on Saturday night, October 11 and Puerto Rican soprano Marinel Cruz on Sunday, October 12. On both nights, the role of Leonardo de Gamboa will be played by Uruguayan tenor Martin Nusspaumer, along with renowned figures from the opera and theater worlds.
